The Ring:This poster uses dark colours throughout, which is a typical feature of a horror film, darkness shows that there is evil or evil forces and they're outweighing the good forces, which could be shown by the white ring or text. The constant darkness could also represent death, as the colour black is often worn at funerals and characters associated with death also wear black, such as the 'grim reaper'. The white ring could also represent paranormal forces such as spirits or ghosts, relating to the films storyline of the girls ghost.
The font used is also interesting, as it looks scrawled and simple, like a child's writing, which also gives the poster a more eerie tone but also relates to the storyline of the film.
Remember Me:
This poster uses a black and white picture of a couple cuddled up to each other as it's main feature, focusing on the love, happy relationship (this can be seen by them smiling at each other) and close connection between the couple (this can be seen by their close proximity to each other and their open body language), we can immediately tell that this film is a rom-com by the 'lovely dovey' connotation.
The main title is in a simple red font, the colour red symbolizes love and passion and is a famous feature of romantic comedy posters.
The background is a bright white, showing that there isn't much darkness here and no scary undertones like in a horror film. The white shows that everything is good and pure and there is no danger here.
Sin City:
This poster shows the characters from a low angle shot, showing that they are in a position of power as they're looking down on the audience, this is common with thriller / action posters, this means that the characters will be the ones doing all the action and usually win at what they do as they're in a high power position. All of the characters are holding guns as-well, which is a connotation of a thriller / action film, meaning that they need a weapon to protect themselves from whatever their opposition is.
There is also a mysterious figure at the bottom of the poster, nobody knows who it is, is this the good or the bad guy? Which is another element of thriller films, a sense of mystery and not knowing if characters are who they really say they are etc.
The main title is also in red, this could symbolize, blood or death, which are often common in thrillers, but the writing is in a comic book style, relating to the action plot. The poster is mostly dark with little saturation other than the title, this shows that the characters may be in a dark place, such as a downtown city, relating to the plot.
